I know that directors spend a lot of money to do a film because of all the special effects they use and the actors they pay to act in the movie. They're in charge of dealing with the plot and the whole story, assigning roles to actors/actresses and guiding them into the correct emotions when filming. They're the ones who control the movie and everyone else, they say when to start filming and when to stop. I think that directors have the most power when filming over a movie, because they're mostly in control of what happens and what doesn't. They're the ones who create the settings and are in control of how an actor/actress should act. They're in charge of telling people what to do to prepare for a shooting and decide what is wrong and what is right.
