Warm Up 121713 { F i l m S t u d i e s }
Looking back on 2013, I think the best film that was made this year is Mama. It was a good movie but the ending was...it was okay I guess. Looking from the little girl's point of view she basically lived with mama longer than she lived with her parents. So it makes a little sense that she turned back in the ending and called out to her. It's just sad though to see mama throw her own dead child (although she herself is also dead) off the cliff and run for the little girl. Poor baby though. I think some of the most overrated films this year were The Purge and Insidious 2. The Purge was really really, stupid. It kind of made me mad when the little boy was still alive because he was the one who put his family in danger. Oh right, the daughter also. Her adult boyfriend nearly killed her father because she brought him into their home and they almost did it. In the end of course, he did die (the father). I think. But it was a pretty messed up movie, I don't know how people enjoyed it. Who the heck 'cleanses' themselves by killing people and doing crime? It'll just give them the satisfactory of doing something they're not suppose to do and make them want to kill even more. Like the guy who was talking with the guy in the radio in the beginning of the movie. He said he planned to kill his boss when the purge was going to start. Well if you kill your boss, who's going to pay your next salary? If you don't like your job then find another one and quit. Though it's harder than it sounds to do. At least you still have someone to pay you for your job. And about Insidious 2. It was okay, but it was too overrated. It wasn't too great, or too bad. I just don't get why people found it so scary and were so hyped about it. The only thing Insidious does is put creepy people in dark rooms with a blue lit lamp and use loud music for pop ups. Well, in my opinion that is.
