I learned that culture and religion plays a big part in horror movies. For example, horror movies that have to do with Christianity, Witchcraft, and Shintoism. Zombie movies back then had a lot to do with voodoo and witchcraft. Romance horror movies have a lot to do with romance(and people with necrophilia). But most horror movies are always about what will happen if you do this, or the consequences you face after you did something. And it usually plays into religion, like doing something forbidden and getting killed in a gruesome way. Or black magic versus white magic and lots of killings. Even movies that have to do with possession and insane murders are considered as horror. And how can we forget, gory movies with lots of blood splatter and people's organs spilling out of their stomachs! Yuck.
